Hostal- nice and clean rooms, balcony, wonderful helpful owner, very familiar atmosphere, cheap..The only problem is you have to pay your breakfast, lunch and dinner somewhere outside in a restaurant, which is expensive and it makes the same price as if you stayed in a hotel with all inclusive..
Mallorca- hmm...quite crowded beaches, but for people who are not millionares and can enjoy time with their partner or friends wherever they are, is a perfect place to stay...people can not speak english, do not try to visit banks and ask for some service...
We visited mallorca at the end of september and had few hot days, you can rent a motorbike and travel around the island..I liked it...
